Latest Epstein revelations dig even deeper hole for Andrew

"This week is all about me," wrote the then-Prince Andrew to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, in a small, epic statement of a lack of self-awareness.
"Time to put something back into me before the rest of the world starts sucking it out in all their greed and demands," he wrote, in an email that's part of the latest disclosures from the US Department of Justice.
He was in a good mood, thanking Epstein, because he seemed to have helped sort out a problem for his ex-wife Sarah, over unpaid wages. He added he was about to go into his "annual retreat for the next eight days".

Is that new information for the public? Pretty fucking explosive re state of mind for suicide, and motive for killing him. Where is Bill Barr these days?

Since these are international crimes, I wish some international authority could take over. Jack Smith returning to The Hague sounds good. I realize the laws and rules likely don’t work that way, but no one is following the laws and rules anyway.

Presumably he'll be asked questions along these lines at the time.

RE: "is it new", this meeting note is the most solid evidence publicly proffered on this particular question. But ever since practically the second the scumbag died, people have been speculating he was "about to turn, that's why he was whacked" so the idea is not at all new.

What we need to find next is the list of who/what his defense lawyers were proposing that Epstein might "cooperate" about (and obviously, in particular, was Trump one of the possible subjects). The dude knew a LOT of people, he might've been floating that he knew of illegal, but not directly sex-related, activities by any number of people (financial crimes being perhaps the most likely).

IMHO, while this new evidence of "cooperation being discussed" is a great thread in the story to be tugged at (and Dems should definitely do so with Barr), in and of itself, discussing "cooperation" in a potential plea deal is fairly standard stuff. It might be a freaking gold mind that means a LOT in terms of the abuse scandal, but it also could not.

It DEFINITELY points to the possible existence of a "list of things Epstein might cooperate about" though, and I expect (hell, DEMAND) that Democrats put pressure on Bondi to release it, and grill Bill Barr on what he knows about it when he appears!

Do you remember this guy, who today I figured must have been a colleague at DOJ of one Alexander Acosta?

John David "Roy" Atchison was a pillar of the community, an Assistant US Attorney in Florida, yet he wanted sex with a child.

The Strange Tale of a Pedophile in the U.S. Justice Department

Legal Schnauzer, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2010

The U.S. Department of Justice generated plenty of strange stories during the George W. Bush years. But one of the strangest involved John David "Roy" Atchison, an assistant U.S. attorney in Pensacola, Florida, who committed suicide after being caught in a pedophilia sting in Detroit.

Atchison's sad story has many connections to Birmingham and Alabama. And it raises this question: How did a guy with a shaky work record and a history of run-ins with the law get hired by the world's supposedly foremost crime-fighting organization? Did Atchison attain his lofty position because he had connections to powerful figures in the Alabama legal world?

Investigative journalist Margie Burns examines these questions, and much more, in a series of posts about the Atchison case at her blog, margieburns.com.

Burns begins with the actions that turned Atchison into a national figure in fall 2007:

This is not the story of a man who engaged in pedophilia for years or decades before being caught. It is the story of a man whipsawed by the strain of living up to a high-achieving family rooted in Birmingham, Ala., whose high-functioning connections assisted him for years in developing a career for which he turned out not to be suited. On Sept. 16, 2007, Assistant U.S. Attorney John David Roy Atchison, serving as a federal prosecutor in the Northern District of Florida, was arrested on credible charges of basically pedophilia. Atchison committed suicide in federal prison Oct. 5.

A dead pedophile might not sound like a tragedy. But Atchison was thought to be participating in a pedophile ring, and his death removed a useful informant from law enforcement resources. The question of how he was enabled to kill himself rather than being preserved for justice is one of the loose ends left hanging in his case.

CONTINUED 'though I wish it didn't...

http://legalschnauzer.blogspot.com/2010/09/strange-tale-of-pedophile-in-us-justice.html

———-

Margie Burns detailed how the guy rose up through the GOP ranks, warts and all. When former wife beating Judge Fuller and pedophile Atchison are given authority to put people behind bars on behalf of Uncle Sam, these are worse than NAZI times.

Just another lone nut child molester. A “suicide,” successful on his second try.

He was going to deliver it personally to whom he thought was a five-year old girl. He had been emailing with someone he thought to be her mother, actually a Michigan State Police trooper. Atchison was busted at the airport with the teddy bear. He supposedly tried to hang himself in his first cell, got moved, and then succeeded in a suicide watch cell.

Case closed. And so much more has happened since.

Wikipedia is about the only place left via GOOGLE with the guy’s picture.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Atchison

The Duck duck goose search doesn’t come up with the old DU OPs, but I was steamed enough to put it down in 2010 — along with the Mark Foley and Sweaty Speaker Hastert the Perverted Blackmailee — sexting the Congressional pages scandal. Rep. Foley (R-FL) was in charge of the Missing and Exploited Children subcommittee and Sweaty Dennis, the House.

A decade later, we see Alex Acosta, the guy who got Epstein the sweetest sweetheart deal ever given a child sex abuser in history, also “looked out for” missing and exploited children in his job as Secretary of Labor (for some reason having to do with crossing state lines).

The things the royals think about aren't better than what the commoners think.

My concern is why are they entitled to decide where to lead civilization? Their Empire? The price of stocks and who prospers? And, of course, who lives and who dies?

Just 29% approve of the job Trump is doing to 63% who disapprove of him. Only 64% of the independents who voted for Trump are still happy with the job he’s doing and that’s brought his overall approval with people who voted for him in 2024 down to 80%. This is the weakest we’ve seen him with his base.
