General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsMy current bottom line on donations to Democrats.
Three primary criteria:
-Have you developed and are you promoting a plan to protect election integrity NOW?
-Are you vociferously attacking the legacy media for their biased reporting and support for this administration?
-Are you persistently calling out this administrations connection to Putin.
To be clear, I am terribly concerned about tsfs economic, immigration, foreign policy, et cetera, from top to bottom. I am aware of the Epstein files. I am aware of the nuances of individual races. But I firmly believe my criteria are the fundamental sources of our problems. I dont believe tsf was ever was ever duly elected. I believe they are clearly engaging in overt plans to subvert elections. I believe the legacy media is purposely misleading people. And I believe the administrations policies can be shown to be aligned with Putins interests.
I believe these criteria represent our most fundamental problems in this moment. I believe failure to address them immediately is likely to spell disaster for upcoming elections.
Also, to be clear, Im not saying these are the only things a candidate should be talking about. But I think they should be top line, with connections made to multiple other related issues. You know, walking and chewing gum.
As election season heats up, my decisions may change. I have conveyed my ideas to the DNCC and not received a response. I am hosting this here as it is the most public platform I engage in, and in hope that my ideas could gain some traction in the discussion on election strategy and tactics.

(22,389 posts)Do you support expanding the Supreme Court to neutralize the corrupt MAGA majority?
(And if running for senate, are you willing to kill the filibuster to do so?)
Everything else that matters to me or anyone else flows downhill from there.
Without killing the filibuster, any legislation to repair the damage of the Trump era and restore rights will be stalled.
Without expanding the court, any legislation that is passed can be overturned by the current corrupt court.
Of course, expanding the court will have to wait until 2029, but there are people running for senate now who will be in office then.
And no, I do not fear the republicans will just do the same thing when they are back in power.
The courage to govern fearlessly and unhesitatingly is implicit in the willingness to kill the filibuster and expand the court. If that happens, republicans wont get a trifecta again for a generation (see FDR and the New Deal).

(69,300 posts)my donations are going to "independent media" journalists and hosts. We need their voices. You see that they arrested Don Lemon and 3 other journalists, will this filthy regime arrest more????
Forget Corporate media they are loyal to DJT.
Reporters and artists are always targeted first by fascistic regimes.

(19,087 posts)We need to win the House at least, and preferably both houses.
If I can count on the D candidate to vote for a Dem majority leader, and they have a good chance to beat the R candidate, and we need that seat (or to keep that seat, if it's a threatened incumbent), I am okay with donating to them.
We need the fucking gavels to end the disaster happening to this country.
