Can Midterms Be Cancelled? Jamelle Bouie Says No

Bouie gives an explanation on the mechanics of how midterms are run.

Not to say there can’t be problems, some more serious than others, but states run their own elections and there are no electoral counts involved.

As well as the Constitution.

Trump can try to ignore the constitution, but he can’t ignore the laws of physics.

Whenever talk of cancelling elections comes up, even in a rational way, never forget this one absolute truth:

Trump is not omnipotent, and the states and the people are not powerless

This OP deserves 100 recs, I hope it at least makes the Greatest Page.

1 proud boy at each polling place can legally challenge each and every prospective voter, slowing the process well past anyone's patience, or, and more likely,

trump declares an emergency and says we'll have an election maybe next year. i sue immediately and by 2028 maybe 2030 i get to trial in federal court, a trial that trump can delay and appeal well into the 2030s

It is physically impossible for the scenario you describe to occur.

Just because you can imagine something and type it on the internet does not make that thing possible, plausible or probable.

Also, we all vote by mail here... or we drop off our ballots at drop boxes for a couple of weeks beforehand.

Only red states would go along with it and not all of those. US citizens don't respond well to tyrannical tactics. It's in our cultural DNA and the orange clown and his minions have seriously misjudged by not knowing that.
