I spoke with an M.D. friend who has been pretty conservative.
He brought up a Bernie Sanders video that he saw on the dangers of AI in the hands of oligarchs.

Well, he's against oligarchs using AI to manipulate election results, or otherwise buying election results, against Citizens United, and against the loss of all rights by demand of the oligarchs. And more than a little pissed at abuse of children, since he's trained in pediatrics.
(And I think he knows a little about severe dementia, having led an Acute Care for the Elderly unit.)
I'll bet that the murder of two "no threat" citizens was decisive. He also trained in Emergency Medicine.
Enough "nudges" and some, not all, people reach a tipping point.
I hope Trump will enjoy his new home at "Trump Gaza Hole-tel"
