(113,143 posts)with kids trying to decide if they will reproduce. I know the best thing for potential grandparents to do is "butt out," and that is what I would do in their shoes.
Maybe more will consider adoption--of course the doors to foreign adoption are now firmly closed--but perhaps that will get more children (older than infants) adopted.

(10,289 posts)And my grandson is having their 2 child this year. He's married to a Japenese woman so I do worry about them and her parents also. They came from Japan to work at Microsoft. And ICE is in Seattle where they live. I'm sure my daughter and daughter in law have asked them about it .

(10,216 posts)While selfishly, I sometimes wish I had kids to take care of me when I get older, I felt a long time ago that I would hate to bring children into this world when I started hearing more and more about kids being kidnapped/abused many years ago. When the school shootings started happening on the regular that made me double-down on that opinion. I remember my niece plaintively asking me when is the war going to end when the Iraq war was going on. Although she apparently wants to have kids. Then I got stuck caring for both of my parents who had Alzheimers. I know of lots of people whose kids are either not speaking to them or have mental health problems. My BFs 3 siblings all have at least one kid out of two with serious mental problems. Then my brother for a while who had severe depression. I was the only female kid in the family. If you have any history of mental illness in the family or Alzheimers/Dementia, you may want to include that in your decision-making.

(10,888 posts)Best buddy just had one a month ago.
They all seem thrilled with their choices.
This video's kind of an unintentional twofer tho.
1. You worry about the world you're bringing a child into.
2. But also, children with parents addicted to social media and doom scrolling are probably in for a rough time.
