Movie houses are dying. They probably won't exist in another year. Streaming is where all the movies are.

Drive in’s and stream sound to the vehicle sound systems again. Not those metallic medal sound boxes.
Not so much fun in winter though.
My grand dad owned one and we had to clean up the parking area the next day. Traumatic for young boys.
Ya don’t wanna know. And that was way back before society got this freaky.

Friends in, covered up in the back floorboard, or the trunk? Because $3.00 was too expensive to get in.
Damn, now you need a small loan for two tickets popcorn and at least some theaters serve beer now. If you can afford one beer for the price of a case.

It was significantly exacerbated by the pandemic. However, the idea that they will all be gone in a year is insane. They're not remotely close to disappearing anytime soon.

https://www.axios.com/2026/01/02/domestic-box-office-2025-movie-theaters

By the numbers: The domestic box office brought in roughly $8.6 billion last year, slightly above 2024's haul but down 3% from 2023 and down significantly (27% and 24%) from pre-pandemic highs of $11.9 billion and $11.4 billion in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

purpose of that piece of crap was an ad campaign rollout to launch the slovenian sex worker's "brand". baldy the jobs slasher spent 75 million* on a 2 hour ad.

* per peter baker's figures in the wapo layoff thread, that 75 mil could have cobpvered the losses at that once-decent paper for 9 months (losing 100 million per year).
