I posted this in another thread:
In his email to Epstein re: the sexual abuse accusations he refers to "the hysteria that has developed about abuse of women."

That he could engage in a decades long analysis of power that ignored sex and gender..

We are now learning from the latest
0:01
batch of the Epstein files released by
0:03
the DOJ of course that uh Noam Chomsky of
0:06
all people was not only friendly with
0:08
Jeffrey Epstein, he uh was providing
0:11
advice to Jeffrey Epstein as he was uh
0:14
dealing with some
0:16
sexual assault and rape allegations uh
0:19
you know pretty close to when he
0:21
actually ended up getting prosecuted and
0:22
imprisoned. Um, so this is actually an
0:25
email that Chomsky had written to Epstein
0:30
February 23rd... 23rd, 2019. Epstein copied
0:33
and pasted the message and sent it over
0:36
to a guy named Matthew uh, Hiltzik to
0:39
get his uh, you know, his opinion on
0:41
what Chomsky was saying and the advice he
0:44
was giving to Epstein. So now I'm going
0:46
to read you Chomsky's actual message to
0:48
Epstein. He says, quote,
0:51
"I've watched the horrible way you are
0:53
being treated in the press and public.
0:55
It's painful to say, but I think the
0:58
best way to proceed is to ignore it.
1:01
I've had plenty of experience, though,
1:03
of course, not on this scale. A Google
1:06
search will bring up tons of hysterical
1:08
accusations of all sorts, even groups
1:11
devoted to vilifying me. I pay no
1:13
attention unless I'm approached for a
1:16
comment on a specific matter. It's a
1:18
nuisance, but it's the best way. The
1:21
same conclusions from experiences of
1:24
others, in some cases close friends. So,
1:27
like here's Noam Chomsky giving a serial
1:31
pedophile rapist advice on how to handle
1:34
the latest allegations against him.
1:36
There's more. Further, he writes, "What
1:40
the vultures what the vultures dearly
1:43
want is a public response, which then
1:46
provides a public opening for an
1:48
onslaught of venomous attacks, many from
1:51
just publicity seekers or cranks of all
1:54
sorts, which are impossible to answer.
1:57
How do you prove that you are not a
1:58
neo-Nazi who wants to kill the Jews or
2:01
rapist or whatever charges come along?"
2:04
That's particularly true now with the
2:06
hysteria that has developed about abuse
2:09
of women, which has reached the point
2:12
that even questioning a charge is a
2:15
crime worse than murder. For virtually
2:18
everyone who sees any of this, the
2:20
reaction will be where there's smoke
2:22
there's fire. Maybe raging fire,
2:25
whatever the facts, which few will even
2:28
think of investigating. Okay, that was
2:30
that was Noam Chomsky uh in a message that
2:32
he sent to Jeffrey Epstein in 2019. So,
2:37
this is after Epstein had already been
2:38
convicted of uh trafficking human beings
2:41
for sex.
2:42
I don't get it.
2:44
I do. Uh there are no hero there are no
2:46
heroes in politics. Just be very clear
2:48
about that. There are no heroes. Just
2:52
take people as they come, right? Some
2:54
have good, you know, contributions to
2:56
the world of politics, but I think it's
2:59
a mistake to think that anyone's a hero.
3:01
All right. Uh
3:02
so, but but part of the reason why I'm
3:05
confused by it is because he says in the
3:07
middle uh like it's how do you prove
3:10
that you're not a neo-Nazi who wants to
3:12
kill the Jews? The reason why Chomsky says
3:14
that is because I think because Chomsky
3:18
has been called an anti-semite before,
3:19
which is hilarious. He's Jewish. Uh, but
3:22
he's generally been against Israel's
3:24
genocide and all these things. So
3:29
I But what the hell is he doing with
3:31
Epstein and but we all knew in 2008 he
3:35
got caught. There's no question. So why
3:37
would you go hang out with him? I I just
3:40
don't get it. And so yeah, but look to
3:43
to Anna's point about heroes. No, no,
3:45
guys. Just look,
3:48
heroes [snorts] are for, you know,
3:49
movies and books and stuff. Everybody's
3:52
human. So, and by the way, you could be
3:54
a hero while being human. Martin Luther
3:56
King was very, very human and was an
3:58
amazing hero, right? So, but in to me,
4:02
the bigger problem in this case is that
4:05
we're in a Alice in Wonderland situation
4:08
and we're in a hall of mirrors and I you
4:11
can't tell what's real or what's not
4:13
real. I just was watching Dave
4:14
Chappelle's um latest um um uh special
4:19
on Netflix and he says the same thing.
4:21
He's like,
4:22
"We we can't tell what's going on
4:24
anymore, right? Who's a good guy? Who's
4:27
a bad guy? Does the government
4:29
ever tell the truth? Does the media ever
4:31
tell the truth? So then where do we go
4:33
for figuring out what's going on?"
4:36
And I used to think that and I I've
4:37
interviewed Noam Chomsky a bunch of times.
4:39
was proud of it and I used to think that
4:41
he was the smartest man alive. But why
4:43
would a guy that brilliant, which he is,
4:45
he's indisputably brilliant, make at a
4:48
minimum such a stupid mistake of going
4:52
and at a minimum hanging out with
4:54
Jeffrey Epstein.
4:55
He Bannon, what is that?
4:58
Yeah, he gave a um confirmed rapist
5:02
advice on how to dodge the latest
5:04
allegations against him. So, I've got no
5:07
interest in trying to understand the
5:09
mind of Noam Chomsky. People behave as
5:13
they actually are behind closed doors.
5:16
And so, I got a little taste of who Noam
5:17
Chomsky really is. And it's depressing,
5:20
but it is what it is. And
5:21
but it it made me think like, wait, is
5:24
there you know the the concept of
5:27
controlled opposition, right?
5:29
Yeah. Yeah.
5:30
And so, it's called the Democratic
5:31
Party. [laughter]
5:33
So, but it made me think
5:36
are even people who are on our side
5:38
actually on our side like or are they
5:41
put there for a release valve and for
5:44
other reasons etc.
5:47
Because obviously there are some folks
5:50
who are super well organized. They are a
5:53
very well-coordinated team and the
5:56
general public in America is not well
5:58
organized. And we've had we as I've
6:00
talked about on the Tucker Carlson show,
6:02
but as I've talked about on here and
6:04
many other places, they they formed two
6:07
teams for us, Republican and Democrat,
6:10
and they said, "Use up all of your
6:11
energy fighting one another. And
6:14
whatever you do, don't look up." So, we
6:17
got to get organized. If we don't get
6:19
organized, these folks are going to rob
6:22
us blind from here to eternity.
6:24
Mhm.
6:25
So, operationconsequences.com.
6:27
You ever see anybody voting for Israel
6:29
to get another dollar, vote them out.
6:31
Vote them out in your own primaries.
6:33
They're not one of you. They're not a
6:34
Republican. They're not a Democrat.
6:36
They're not barely Americans. Every time
6:38
you ring the bell below, an angel gets
6:40
his swings. Totally not true, but it
6:42
does keep you updated on our live shows.

(4,160 posts)Or Noam Champsky? The Noam Chomsky I know of disdained the world of high-stakes capital dealings.
EdmondDantes_
(1,505 posts)Chomsky has said he had a relationship with Epstein on financial matters. It's definitely not a good look for Chomsky considering it was long after Epstein's first conviction.

(4,160 posts)there's no Santa. Almost. This is one RARE instance where I can understand younger voters becoming disillusioned so easily.

(1,897 posts)First off, shame on Noam Chomsky. He's a brilliant person, on some levels I guess.
They are playing this out as a Democratic problem. Get the dumb Americans numb to the headlines. Then the reaction to Trump's involvement will be some what muted. I don't think it will work.
Bettie
(19,433 posts)but enough that we should be careful around them.
Seems once they get a lot of money, they think there are no rules, no basic humanity, just pure ego.

(114,448 posts)Apparently Epstein courted everyone he could with lies about his motives.
