https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/why-isn-t-news-of-trump-building-vast-concentration-camps-being-treated-as-a-national-emergencyBy the end of his first year, Hitler had around 50,000 people held in his roughly 70 concentration camps, facilities that were often improvised in factories, prisons, castles, and other buildings.
By comparison, today ICE is holding over 70,000 people in 225 concentration camps across America, and Trump, Homan, Miller, and Noem hope to more than double both numbers in the coming months.
In Tennessee, The Guardian reports that Miller has been coordinating with Republican leaders to create legislation that would turn every local cop, teacher, social worker, and helper in the state into an official agent of ICE and criminalize efforts by cities to refuse cooperation. It also makes it a felony crime to identify any of ICEs masked agents or disclose conditions within the concentration camps to the public.

(5,231 posts)Isn't News of Trump Building Vast Concentration Camps Being Treated as a National Emergency?
Because one third of the electorate has no problems with kkkoncentration kkkamps, as long as they are run by their side. Probably 80% of this third absolutely is in favor of them and 20% is willing to go along with them if that is part of what is necessary to keep them in power.
And one third of the electorate can name more players in the superbowl (it's this weekend- I looked it up) than they can politicians in Congress. As long as they get their hamberders and sportsball they don't really care about anything else in society.
And of the one third of the electorate who are grief-stricken and aghast at what can no longer be ignored or denied probably half are only now beginning to realize how bad things are.

(3,205 posts)I suspect the goal will actually be "work camps". Once the vast majority are rounded up, everyone who's physically able to work the fields will kept here in the USA, even if they WANT to go back home.
The ICE agents will then be repurposed to supervise the sla ...... errrrr "Freedom Workers", working in the fields in exchange for their 3 squares and a cot, and $10 a day (good only for the products from the corporate commissary).

(466 posts)Seems that the courts were giving Dump & Crew a hard time about deporting people without due process. I'm sure that it is much more convenient for them to just keep the detainees as prisoners, and put them to work, than give them due process.
