Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast: "77 minutes of self-indulgence, grievance and hatred of others."

Instead of somber reflection or words to soothe an anxious nation, Trump delivered a blasphemous meditation on Trump: 77 minutes of self-indulgence, grievance and hatred of others.

Trump opened by maligning the press, complaining that he never gets “a fair break from the fake news, which is (points dismissively) back there.” By the third sentence he was referring to himself reverentially as “Sir” while calling everyone else by their first name.

Claiming he’d “done more for religion than any other president,” Trump announced that Democrats were anti-religion, and said anyone who votes for Democrats must be Godless.

Treating prayer like a stump ad, Trump claimed Democrats oppose voter identification because “they cheat,” and fondly reminisced over his election win like it was a good game.

“Beating these lunatics was incredible, right, what a great feeling, winning every swing state, winning the popular vote...”

The religious hierarchy in the US would condemn it publicly if anyone else presented that shit,
He is a raving mad, out of control piece of shit with not one redeeming quality.

His response, "All of them."

Perfect response from a guy selling $65 MAGAt Bibles with Lee Greenwood.

there was lots of laughing and applauding going on. Mike Johnson probably thought he was listening to the Almighty himself.

America was once a gem within a tumultuous world. A Pearl created within the world’s oyster. A Pearl whose existence and identity is that of a small grain of sand hardened by adversity into a gem.

As it grew its value, the pearl’s value was hijacked by greedy businessmen and thieves. Once in their possession, they mortgaged its value for their own vulgar, and decadent pleasures. Now, the thieves own the wealth and the oyster is empty.

The moral of the story? Never cast pearls before swine.

And Donald Trump is a pig.

And ETTD.

Where I currently live, there are many experiencing memory loss. Which is why they are in Memory Care. Some linger on and on. Some die quickly due to other health issues. Some are just plain old and their bodies wearing out. Some are old, but they still have their wits about them.

In TACO Don's case, the body and mind are rapidly declining at a pace faster than a Hare's. No amount of makeup, fresh Depends, or breath mints will mask the deterioration taking place before our eyes. He will take a fall in public and it will be grand to the naked eye. The reality that death is imminent will stimulate our senses for the time being.

Then comes the question, "What next?" JD does not have the love of the people. He represents the regime that nobody likes. As with the Roman Empire that crumbled under the weight of its own hubris, so will JD and the MAGA movement.

Forgive me for the analogies and metaphors.

Too woke

Most, if not all, NPB attendees would not have taken kindly to being called Hypocrites.
Or being compared to graves which are covered with a fresh coat of paint.
Or being described as beautiful on the outside, but on the inside they are filled with bones and crap.

Those who thought Trump might approach the event with any maturity or solemnity were kidding themselves: He has anti-gravitas.

As is true in so many areas of public life, things now are … different. The Boston Globe reported:

President Trump attacked Republican Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, an outspoken critic of the president, during his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington on Thursday, calling him a ‘moron.’ […]

Trump then attacked Democrats in his speech saying, ‘I don’t know how a person of faith can vote for a Democrat. I really don’t.’ Later, Trump repeated his false claims that he won the popular vote in 2016 and that his 2020 loss to former president Joe Biden was ‘rigged.’

Over the course of roughly 75 minutes, the Republican turned the National Prayer Breakfast into a roast of sorts, lashing out at enemies, condemning immigrants, peddling absurd election conspiracy theories, expressing annoyance that House Speaker Mike Johnson wants to pray before meals, lying about the repeal of the Johnson Amendment (which still has not actually happened, no matter how many times Trump claims otherwise) — all while complaining about transgender people and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

The president even took the opportunity to boast about the efficacy of the deadly military operations he’d ordered.

Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast: "We hit 'em. And we want to hit 'em right, sir, and we want to hit them from the top! East, west, north, south. Sir, they won't know what the hell! And we'll knock them out. We did it politically correct. Five years."

At another point, Trump decided it’d be a good idea to mock Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey over the Democrat’s recent emphasis on honoring the Constitution.

Trump on Minnesota: "If we didn't have to fight this horrible governor and this horrible fake mayor -- Frey. 'This is the Constitution of the United States.' People don't want to be mugged!"

,,,,,Those who assumed Trump would approach the National Prayer Breakfast with a degree of maturity or solemnity were kidding themselves: He has a void where his gravitas should be.

Every speech, interview and appearance, public or private, is rooted in the same conspiratorial and grievance-filled foundation. The president was an embarrassment to himself on Thursday, not because he tried and failed to honor the occasion and to respect his audience, but because it apparently never occurred to him to bother in the first place.
