Late-released result for anyone still awake: Na’Cole Thompson, the Democratic candidate in the mayoral race today in Leander, Texas, has won the election.

(The city of Leander, a suburb of Austin, Texas, is electing a new mayor on Feb. 7 due to Christine DeLisle’s resignation. The contest is ostensibly nonpartisan but the candidates to replace her have partisan attachments.)

She got 57% and won’t need a runoff, with two Republicans adding up to 43%.

This was the second of the elections today on my guide to February races.

(Redoing the post on how this ties to 2024: To answer Qs I've gotten: Trump did narrowly carry the city in 2024. Dave's Redistrict App estimates that he won it by 4%.)

Unofficial results show Na’Cole Thompson garnered 57.01% of ballots cast in the race for mayor of Leander with 3372 votes. Challengers Mike Sanders received 25.88% with 1531 votes, and Kathryn Pantalion-Parker received 16.92% with 1001 votes
