NJ-12: Union County Democrats back Mapp for Watson Coleman's House seat

Union County Democrats today endorsed Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp for Congress in New Jersey’s 12th district, a move that allows Mapp to use the county organization slogan on the ballot in the June primary.

The endorsement came as no surprise, since Plainfield is the lone municipality in Union County in the 12th district, and Mapp is the Democratic municipal chairman. Plainfield gets to award the slogan – the line no longer exists – for the primary. Mapp did not participate in the vote and sent an ally, Maureen Muganda, to vote in his place.

The 12th district has been represented by Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing) since 2014; she is not seeking re-election.

Plainfield made up 6% of the total vote cast in the 12th district Democratic primary in 2024.
