(104 posts)Remember that one? Despite 9/11. Despite that he was warned repeatedly and did nothing. He got the old "Well he's kept us safe" line of bullshit.
Ever notice how Obama never once was credited for keeping us safe?

(56,582 posts)Nate Silver wrote a few columns this year looking at the 2004 election that convinced me of that. Foreign policy was actually a drag on W; he won in '04 because he was a moderately popular President in a moderately growing economy.

(2,522 posts)that sorry US Supreme Court. And if you know anything about statistical polling you'll understand that he stole the second election. So no he was never actually elected. But he probably made his daddy proud--being that Daddy was also dirty.

(23,156 posts)But, as ineffectual a campaigner as Kerry was, without 9/11 there would not have been the constant fear-mongering that made such a difference. The "He kept us safe" bull crap.

(167 posts)The senator from Vt. flipped from GOP to Democrats (Jim Jeffords) happened right before. The biggest problem for Democrats was the ordeal of Rep. Gary Condit. It turned out his reputation was unfairly ruined. 9/11 changed to whole dynamic for 2004, especially for Democrats.

(46,114 posts)administration concluded. Remember how Jim Jeffers "converted" from republican to independent and was voting with the democrats in the House? Bush wouldn't have been able to pass much if any of his programs or legislation for the duration of his only term.

(51,076 posts)I doubt he would have been able to finish his first term and if he had he would have been a wounded duck the whole time to where it wouldn't have mattered anyway. He and the dick were not and I repeat were not liked by very many prior to 9-11
