Pam Bondi hit with new demand to unredact GOP presidential candidate in Epstein email

By David Edwards
Published February 12, 2026 5:04 PM ET

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to expose the name of a "political figure" who competed against former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) in the Iowa presidential caucuses. The name appeared in an email to Jeffrey Epstein, but was curiously redacted by the Justice Department.

"I saw this email at DOJ today. This is a political figure who shouldn't have been redacted. It's a direct violation of @RepThomasMassie and my Epstein Files Transparency Act," Khanna wrote in a Thursday post on X.

According to the email, the political figure "got more votes than Jeb Bush got in Iowa" and "only had one congressional district."

The whole field😀😀😀
Ted Cruz was able to defeat Donald Trump in the Iowa Caucus by winning over Evangelical caucus-goers;[1] Cruz won 51,666 caucus votes or 27.6%, giving him a net gain of one delegate over Trump. Cruz visited all 99 counties of Iowa and held small events.[2] Cruz outperformed his polling average, which predicted a narrow Trump victory in the caucus.

Following poor performances in the caucuses, Rand Paul,[3] Mike Huckabee[4] and Rick Santorum[5] suspended their campaigns. Both Huckabee and Santorum had previously won the caucus in 2008 and 2012 respectively.

I think it was a candidate for Congress because they say that they only had one congressional district and Bush had 4 to pull votes from. There are 4 districts in Iowa. Because of the date, I think it has to be Iowa unless there was a special election somewhere. If they say they still love Trump, my guess is Steve King.
