President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevich, who was disqualified at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan for adorning his helmet with images of Ukrainian athletes who had been killed by russia in their war of aggression against Ukraine. The president awarded Heraskevich the Order of Freedom for "selfless service to the Ukrainian people, civic courage and patriotism in defending the ideals of freedom and democratic values," Zelenskyy is in Munich, Germany this week for the Munich Security Conference and he took time out of his schedule to meet with the athlete.

(113 posts)4. I still don't get what he did wrong by displaying pictures of....
fallen Ukrainian athletes on his helmet. Officially Russia isn't even in the Olympics to act offended, and it's not like he was advertising some corporations or making political statements. I am switching off the Olympics over this.

We can only imagine how Devastated and heartbroken he is over the deaths of Ukrainian Athletes by the Russian War Heinous Criminals.
And he wanted to Honor them... Well Pres Zelenski is giving him the beautiful Ceremony to do just that.
