Decent Americans cheered the Buddhist monks on, but alas, assholes showed up too. . .

So the Buddhist Monks walk was not all peace.
People cursed them.
Shouted at them.
They said that many people stepped on the gas peddle so that the black smoke covered all the monks.

How did they react?

The monks wished them well, wished them peace and happiness.

There was no marching, only mindful walking.

I welcomed them home yesterday.

Listening to everyone from the Monks, to the Enforcers who provided escorts through the South, and the American people showing up to support the mission.

There were several people who gave the Monks ashes of their loved ones to carry with them. Today they released the ashes in their mediation garden. It was a touching moment.

I'm going to the New Year eve celebration tomorrow.

There are daily videos of the walk and at the stops along the way at lunch stops and nighttime stay overs.

I did post here, but it didn't get any traction. I wanted to share how these Monks were attracting all walks of life. All races, genders, religions, coming out to receive the message the Monks were providing. So, many tears, smiles, signs and love. They touch a missing desire for togetherness.

You really should watch some of the videos they are what America should and could be.

Here's one:

https://www.facebook.com/walkforpeaceusa

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walk_for_Peace

The walk began on October 26, 2025, and spanned approximately 2,300 miles (3,700 km). They arrived in D.C. on February 10, 2026 after 108 days.[1][2] The monks are accompanied by a dog named Aloka, who has become a symbolic figure throughout the journey.[3]

The monks have been documenting their travels on multiple social media platforms. Since creating their Facebook page on November 8, 2025, it has grown rapidly, reaching 1 million followers on January 11, 2026, and 2 million just 11 days later.[4][5] They have 2.9 million followers on Facebook and 1.9 million followers on Instagram as of February 14, 2026.

And yes, the Venerable Monks had one particular "preacher" who followed them state to state with his tiny amp. He told Pannakara he was going to hell, Pannakara relied ok. Then the intolerant "preacher" told Pannakara he didn't want him to go to hell, and Pannakara said ok, May you be well, happy and peaceful. Pannakara didn't engage with him after that. The intolerant "preacher" also carried a sign like the westboro "church" a thorn in the side of Peace.

I followed them daily and the people who greeted them were seeking something empty in their lives. They brought flowers, food, hand warmers, gloves, and love and kindness. They also gathered to hear the Monks speak. They traversed through all kinds of weather conditions, sickness, and the horrible accident in Texas. They kept Walking for Peace.

There was even two governors who proclaimed Walk for Peace Days both Democrats. Plus Democrats met them in DC.

Yesterday at the Welcome Home gathering there were thousands of people to greet them in a heavy downpour. It was definitely a lifetime journey they'll never forget.

I will continue to visit the Temple, tomorrow is a new year eve celebration which I'm excited to attend.
