Melania is a box office flop; regardless of what Trump says.
Worldwide it has made $15,817,179.
Unfortunately, the link below is company owned by Amazon.

They have not even recouped the costs they paid Melania.
Some internet reports, she was paid around $28 million.
The total cost of the documentary is $40 million for production and $35 million for marketing ($75 million)
A rule of thumb is that a movie has to make 3 times its production cost, to make a profit.
This is for marketing cost, percentage points, and theater share of tickets, etc.
Now, Amazon execs are hoping Amazon Prime viewers will see it on Prime Video.

(150,945 posts)I will go and see it if I am paid $100 per hour to do so, including my travel time. I will never pay to watch it.

(37,681 posts)It would take that long for the nausea to fade. Just a scad over colonoscopy prep time.
Amazon could sweeten the deal with free shipping for life.

(23,885 posts)Would have been pretty compelling. From Eastern Block model to illegal immigrant in the US. Contacts from the KGB. Worked as an escort and porn model before being trafficked by Jeff Epstein where she met and married the eventual president of the US and became First Lady while in an open marriage.

(66,046 posts)to actually make the movie. Well, that says a lot right there about the rest of the film*. This wasn't about making money though, remember. Just a Bezos "feeding the grift machine" move.
*I say this realizing that a number of great** movies were made on far less of a budget. Clerks only cost like $250k, IIRC.
**Opinion, certainly

(38,444 posts)the 35 million in promotion was solely for MF's eyes (and I doubt that was the actual expenditure).
Bezos could give a flying fuck if it's a "flop". Profit had NOTHING to do with its purpose in being made.
