I have traveled that area several times over past several years and there is nothing to prevent or protect the people in these areas.
Hopefully no loss of life comes from the fires.
Its not good there, but the wind is die down and weather to improve drastically in the coming days.
Its been a crazy couple of years of devastating weather, fires and floods. California is seeing their second big storm of the year with feet of snow in the Sierras and flooding rains in other parts of the state. Temperatures in the Midwest were hitting record highs this past week after a devastating cold snap throughout the Midwest and east coast which reach the southern tip of Florida.
One question that remains? Where is FEMA/DHS Secretary Noem? Is she still looking for her blankie?
One disaster after another and they are sending tyrant wannabe cops into cities to arrest citizens while we watch the country deal with severe weather and fires. Its not just Noem either! Other high ranking officials and politicians have neglected to address the issues that we are experiencing right now.
Its time, we put the people who know what theyre doing and how to handle these issues.

(14 posts)for a lot of things. (And it's high time to take out the trash, like Noem.)
And IMHO it is past time to get our government "leaders" to acknowledge that the climate has changed, things are only going to get worse, and systems need to be put in place to take care of people. To move folks to safety. To provide assistance to people who want to relocate when they are living in a severely high climate risk zone. (Check out your risk here: https://climatecheck.com/ ) To do more than piecemeal panicked clean-up. We need deliberate, forward planning. We need resources.
Yet we're getting concentration camps. It is mind-boggling.

(167,731 posts)is that Stitt has been mostly operating "under the radar" except for the impact on the poor (D) locals. Yet suddenly, I have been hearing his name more and more in the national news (including this morning regarding those wildfires).
The question now will be whether he will be "blamed" when he leaves the state later this week to attend the National Governors Association Conference (the one that was recently in the news regarding 45's TACO snubs for WH meetings and dinners) or will he be given a pass.
They pretty much dismantled FEMA to have them do "immigration" instead. So as we go into wildfire and tornado season, states will more and more be SOL.
