The Guthrie case...a crime aspect that I hope is being explored...

Have been studying serial killers and interviewing FBI profilers since the 1980s as a journalist. In this article, retired FBI agent, Gregg McCrary -- a pioneer of criminal profiling -- provides a glimpse into the personality of a possible abductor of Nancy Guthrie. Think he's definitely onto something: Obsessive behavior directed at a celebrity like Savannah.

He (Gregg) added: "If somebody fits that physical description, seems to have some fixation on the Guthries prior to this, and now has kind of disappeared or his normal routine is gone. Those things start stacking up. That's the kind of lead that really needs to be reported."

snip

He went on to say: "Yeah... the stalker type of personality, some psychopathology at work, has some perceived relationship between them that doesn't actually exist, and but it does in his mind."

The FBI is now led by someone more interested in his love life than calling on the many experts (current or retired) who have experience in these types of crimes. This perp may be the kind of guy whose home has a wall dedicated to the object of his obsession. Can only hope this possibility is being pursued.

Was the best advice given to me when I became middle management.

If the fool at the top isn’t leading, those underneath need to push.
