The so-called "SAVE" act...having to produce a copy of your birth certificate to prove citizenship, among other "requirements"...may not seem like a big deal.
A lot of people don't have a copy of their birth certificate, and even if they have one, they most likely don't carry it with them at all times.
That means that if people don't pay attention, and this bullshit becomes law, and they show up without a birth certificate and no time to get one in time to vote, Trump gets what he wants...disenfranchised, disqualified voters, shitcanned over a technicality.
America should be FRANTIC right now, FURIOUS over what Trump is planning and discussing out loud, but I'm just not seeing it.

(14 posts)doesn't this mostly affect women? We are the ones who normally take our husband's last name at marriage, meaning that we won't be able to prove we are who we say we are at the ballot box. At least, not to the satisfaction of the Nazi shitheads in the Trump administration.

(19,005 posts)Just 15 months ago the plurality of American voters, 90 million strong, didn't bother to take the simple steps to avoid the shit that has been happening for the past ~year. I have no higher expectations of that lot nine months hence, least of all with higher barriers to navigate.
