Arizona Republicans want to require ICE officers to be stationed at polling places this year, the Arizona Mirror reports.
This week, the Arizona Senate will take up a proposal to force all 15 of the states counties to sign an agreement with ICE to provide for a federal immigration law enforcement presence at each location within this state where ballots are cast or deposited.
Applegrove: Jasmine Crockett had an even in Texas. Her advance security team went to vet a location for an event, an office. A Latina American saw the advance team and thought they were ICE and hid under her desk. Terrified. Putting ICE at polling places will depress Latino votes massively. American, eligible to vote legally, latinos will be too afraid to show up on election day.

(39,734 posts)Just a few days of media saturation with them standing around a polling place, before a judge rules and they're made to leave - that's all it takes to INTIMIDATE potential voters and lower the totals across the country.
That's all they're after

(59,931 posts)My wish would be for her to assemble a team of AZ State police and, if possible, AZ National Guard around the state to act as swift response teams to unconstitutional, unrequested and unmandated armed unidentified individuals claiming to be there for voter protection, but displaying an intent to do the opposite, and dispersed--at gunpoint if need be--before they can interfere with voters exercising their right to vote. Since she said she gets along very well with both AZ Senators (Kelly and Gallego), I doubt I am the first one to suggest this. Their only question would be how many uniformed AZ "troops" would be available and how far they would be willing to go to protect the Constitution before they protect the Republicans.
