And yes, I used the word victims instead of survivors for a reason. There were thousands of girls (and some boys) that were preyed upon by these rich, sick creeps and yet only a very small number have courageously come forward. These women have found a way to survive their past and go on with their lives the best way they can. I applaud their bravery every time one of them speak out.
But I can't stop thinking about the many many more who maybe haven't "survived". Like Virginia D for one. How many more quietly committed suicide? How many of these girls turned to and became drug addicts? How many have supported themselves through prostitution? How many of them found themselves in abusive relationships because that is all they know? How many are suffering from never ending trauma while trying to keep their past a secret for fear of judgement or blame? Are any of them now homeless because once out of that horrible situation they weren't able to pick up and live "normal lives"?
What happened to the rest of these young girls (and boys)? I can't help but wonder...

(8,378 posts)The Attorney General of the United States. I mean shouldn't people who commit crimes be held accountable?
Didn't these fucktards argue George Floyd had it coming to him because he bought cigarettes with counterfeit money?
Yet one of the most sadistic sex trafficking pedophile rings in human history and Pam Bondi can't be bothered.

(210 posts)Didn't Pam (the hemorrhoid whisperer) Bondi help Epstein and "I left my underpants on during my massage" Alan Dershowitz get a light slap on the wrist in Florida years ago after a payola campaign contribution??

In March 2016, CREW discovered that the Trump Foundation had broken the law by giving an illegal $25,000 contribution to a political group supporting Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Charitable foundations like the Trump Foundation are not allowed to engage in politics. Even more problematic was the fact that the contribution was given as Bondis office was deciding whether to take legal action related to Trump University. This would set off an investigation which would lead to one of the biggest stories of the year. Heres how it went down: (Complete Timeline)

(1,964 posts)I call myself, and others, survivors because, well it is hard to explain with a brain Injury. I guess if you are a victim, it feels like they still have power over you. Without them, there is nothing to be a victim of. But if you are a survivor, that is all you. you were strong. Something happened but you came out on the other side and you survived. A lot of survivors do not need pity. I have seen pity in people's eyes when I tell them about my rapes. I want people to see my strength.
For months, I could not use the word rape. I always said, "When he did what he did to me.". The day that changed, I took back the power for myself, and I used the word survivor for me and others. I bet if you asked others, they would want the word survivor used instead of victim. In our culture, or at least for me, survivor is more powerful and gives the person more strength.
