President Trump announced Saturday that he would raise his new, global tariff to 15 percent, a day after he took steps to replicate some of the punishing duties that had been struck down by the Supreme Court.
Mr. Trump announced the change in a post on social media, and said the tariff would take effect immediately, as he signaled anew that he would press ahead with his trade war despite the stunning legal setback.
On Friday night, Mr. Trump had set that tariff at 10 percent, using a provision in a law that allows him to impose an across-the-board tariff for 150 days unless Congress agrees to extend it.

(1,346 posts)2. I am sure coming Monday
I am sure coming Monday, some average citizen will go to their local courthouse and file a case that Trumps Baby temper tantrum and the new tariff he has imposed is illegal and ask for it to be stopped, just using the current Supreme Court Decision of Friday. Then, a federal judge will strike down such trump order and impose it to be national wide. In other words, trump will have another temper tantrum Monday night..

"How much of a constraint this is, however, remains to be seen," notes Clark Packard, a research fellow at the Cato Institute. "If Congress declines to act, the administration could, at least in theory, allow the tariffs to lapse, declare a new balance-of-payments emergency, and restart the clock. The maneuver would raise serious separation-of-powers concerns, but nothing in the statute clearly forbids it."

And after insulting Barrett and Roberts calling them "embarrassment to their families", his chances of defeat will be high.

I dont know who will look more recently ridiculous, Trump spouting all this nonsense or feckless Republicans fervently applauding it. Maybe the Supremes will hurl adult diapers at the podium.
