17. Btw, there was an earlier version of that fake quote going around, in which Macron supposedly

referred to "a 79-year-old man." It was changed to the "cry baby" wording quite a bit later. But I haven't been able to find a news source for the earlier wording, either. Just a bunch of social media posts about what was apparently an invented quote.

You should realize that IF Macron had actually said that - either version - there would have been a lot of real news stories about it.

29. Btw, I saw mostly Instagram posts with the different versions of that quote, so I'd guess it got started

there. Also quite a few Facebook and Threads posts - also Meta. Not nearly as many from X. A few from LinkedIn.

And not one single news source.

Editing to add that I didn't see anything about this on Reddit. Their mods are pretty good about getting rid of fakes very quickly, and they simply delete them.
