Some "celebrities" just had a MAGAt vibe before they performed for Trump. Didn't help their image with anyone but MAGAts

Seeing stories about Carrie Underwood "no longer being America's sweetheart" after performing at Trump's inauguration.

Right before Brian Wilson died, Mike Love took his "Beach Boys" covers band to Mar-a-Lago.

Sometimes when an entertainer makes an overt gesture to show their love for Trump, it weakens their overall public image.

But I could have told you LONG before Underwood performed at the inauguration that she'd be inclined to do that.

There IS an unspoken MAGAt vibe, ESPECIALLY among "celebrities."

1. Mike Love is an asshole.

And has been for decades. His act must have been pathetic and didn’t help his lame career any.

4. There is a sub-set of "music fans"...

...who see the Mike Love "Beach Boys" AS "THE BEACH BOYS."

Had a friend in California like that. He went to the Saratoga Winery and saw the Love covers band and told me "I saw the Beach Boys last night."

And, since he was my friend, I just smiled and said "No, you didn't."

His anger with the Brian Wilson Pet Sounds era and beyond is well documented.

And, it's ironic, because I saw an interview with Brian, in which he described Pet Sounds as his desire to start moving beyond "songs about cars and girls," and Love whittled the band's catalog down to nothing but those songs.

Bands "getting their name back" is the ultimate vindication.

Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman just did it with "The Guess Who."

Several years before he died, Paul Kantner did it with "Jefferson Starship."

I'd say any ACTUAL fan of The Beach Boys knows the Mike Love band is NOT "The Beach Boys," regardless of his ownership of the name.

Also supported censoring rock music in the 80's. Very disappointed. I like the Beach Boys. Always have. The only way I can see the real band is old videos and archive footage.

6. Not sure if you've seen / heard "The Beach Boys - Live at Knebworth"

It's the last time that all three Wilson brothers were filmed / recorded on stage. Brian's a little "tentative," but it's the real band. You can get a free trial to "Quello Concerts" and watch it, and then decide to keep the channel or not after the trial.

Worth a watch / listen.

If you search for "Beach Boys Knebworth" on YouTube you can see individual songs...maybe adding up to the whole show...but it doesn't look like they have the entire show as a single video.

2. I never thought of Carrie Underwood as anything but a generically pretty, empty-headed blonde country bimbo.

As most of them are, I was convinced she was a Jesus-spoutin' right-wing "Christian" tool. An impression not lessened by her "Jesus, Take The Wheel" bullshit, or her "They just need Jesus!" tantrum against her critics. But people kept telling me" Oh, no. She's progressive. She's modern country! She's not a Trumpster."
