PREDICTION: Grampy's SOTU will be indistinguishable from George Costanza's father's airing of grievances at Festivus

Trump, who was once considered to have the Supreme Court in his back pocket, had warmly greeted conservative justices on the high court ahead of his speech before a joint session of Congress last year. On Friday, the Supreme Court, in a 6-3 decision, shut down Trump’s signature economic policy.

This will guide Trump’s SOTU address, author Michael Wolff argued on the latest episode of the Daily Beast’s Inside Trump’s Head.

“The important point is that it will no longer be about the Supreme Court basically humiliating him. It will then be about his theatrics in responding to this and his emotions. It’s incredibly effective,” Wolff explained.

“The reason I’m on the edge of my seat about State of the Union, which is on Tuesday, is that at last year’s State of the Union, Donald Trump caused much Sturm und Drang. When he walked past Roberts, he shook his hand, he said ‘thank you,’” co-host Joanna Coles recounted. “Sturm und Drang” is German for “storm and stress.”

Downsides are obviously sitting there while Trump yells at you for being a RINO.

UPSIDE is that if we had a show of hands on DU right now after asking people "How many of you here LOVE the Supreme Court with ALL OF YOUR HEARTS," I don't think we'd see many, if ANY hands, and...GIVEN ALL OF THAT...while we perhaps would not "feel sad about" Trump giving them a tongue-lashing on national TV, and...while I often refer to the "Supreme" Court in quotes, mockingly, and refer to it as "The MAGAt Court, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trump Organization"...which it's become...there's still a lingering "societal norms" and "what our country is built on thing" that for me, anyway, can't square it with a 79 year old rapist and convicted felon yelling at the Supreme Court on national TV, in front of Congress.

And yeah, they SHOULD be yelled at, but not by the guy who put them IN this predicament and keeps demanding more.

It's the Frog & the Scorpion. Roberts let Trump swim across the lake on his back, and when they got to the shore, Trump stung him.

I think that the "conservative justices" all have disproportionate levels of ego, all rooted in privilege and protocol and precedent. They can't really cling to that these days because they allowed themselves to become Trump's concubines. And now that they are trying to take baby steps away from that, he SEES it, and he's going to go full Scut Farkas from Christmas Story on them.

So my point is...having grown up around bullying and abuse, I can't applaud ANYONE being bullied or abused, even if I do not like or respect them, and ESPECIALLY if it's from someone like Trump.

I won't cry for them if / when it happens. I'll figure "THEY ASKED FOR IT" but won't take a lot of satisfaction from that. I'd RATHER have a Supreme Court that's not corrupt. Maybe some day. Clearly not today.

And if Trump SUCCUMBS to his most base instincts, he's going to come off looking as bad as the worst loons in his cult, people like Loomer.

So that's the upside, if one wants to call it that. Trump will look like an even bigger prick than he does right now. And November's coming.

Mr Constanza was both funny and largely harmless. On the other hand Prez Drumpf will enumerate his greviences. He will brag, boast in between his substantial threats to our health, welfare, decency and all Eight Billion stuck along for the ride with the system that enabled him and his ilk. Do not mix any Costanza with those evil Ilk who cultivated this situation and leave us all in peril for just a little more money and power.
