General Discussion

Comparing Saint Chucky to Jesse Jackson is sort of like comparing Britney Spears to Aretha Franklin.
They're both women. I think that's where the comparisons end.
The discussions of what could be done / what should be done to honor Jesse Jackson are all shrouded in "WHATABOUTISM."
"What DID WE DO to "honor" Saint Chucky?"
("Doesn't mean we have to do the same for Jesse Jackson" )
"What did we NOT DO to "honor" Saint Chucky?"
(Well, if we didn't do it for a major political figure like Chucky, you can't POSSIBLY expect us to even CONSIDER it for Jesse Jackson)
ENOUGH.
For FUCK'S SAKE, ENOUGH.
Any time ANYONE IS MURDERED, it's a TRAGEDY.
But lighting an eternal candle and making Kirk the "standard bearer" of how we should and should not pay our respects is DISGUSTING.

(26,762 posts)Britney Spears is an outstanding performer and songwriter, as is Aretha Franklin. Neither was a grifting hatemonger.

A lot of life comes down to a matter of personal taste.
I respect everyone's personal tastes. Mine is that I never thought Britney Spears was outstanding on any level.
And I respect people who do feel that way. She was an MTV pop diva, in my opinion, and she never moved the dial past that.
And that's a major accomplishment, sure. In MTV's heyday, I had that channel on all day and night, whenever I didn't want to watch something else.
She sold a lot of records and a lot of concert tickets and good for her. No harm no foul on any of that.
But none of that adds up to artistic merit. Commerce isn't art. You can say she has it, I can say she doesn't, potato, potato, tomato, tomato.
Let's just say that Kirk and Jackson weren't of the same caliber as human beings, and we don't even have to consider my other comments to arrive at that conclusion.

I have noticed that the RWer's always try to align their racist hateful heroes to the actual " love all" heroes, because RWers are psychopaths.
