Freedom Freckles! Measles At UT Wrestling Match, SC Hits 973 Cases; Confirmed Outbreaks In ND, OR

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A Utah state high school wrestling championship has caused an outbreak of measles cases after participants and attendees were exposed at the event last weekend, according to the Utah Dept. of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

The event, a 4A Boys championship, took place at Utah Valley University on Feb. 13-14. Multiple people in attendance, including students, have been confirmed to have measles, according to the DHHS.

The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) reportedly sent a letter to those in attendance at the event to warn of the exposure. The DHHS also said that because of the outbreak, there may be additional possible exposures at multiple local high schools.

Highland High School has already confirmed a case and has sent a notice to parents about the incident. The DHHS is asking those with symptoms to stay home and encourages anyone who has not been vaccinated to get vaccinated.

The ongoing measles outbreak in South Carolina has reached 973 cases, the state’s Department of Public Health reported Feb. 20. Of those, 906 cases are unvaccinated, 26 are fully vaccinated, 20 are partially vaccinated and the vaccination status of 21 cases is unknown. Nationally, 982 confirmed measles cases across 26 jurisdictions have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since Jan. 1. The CDC said there have been seven outbreaks reported in 2026 and that 89% of confirmed cases are outbreak-associated.

North Dakota now has 11 measles cases, including two that required people to be hospitalized, the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services reported Friday.

Pembina County in northeast North Dakota added four confirmed cases this week, bringing the county’s total to nine, according to the department’s measles dashboard. One new case was reported in neighboring Walsh County involving a person who had traveled to Pembina County, the department said.

The department lists 26 eastern North Dakota sites where people may have been exposed to measles between Jan. 30 and Feb. 11.

Dr. Marc Nielsen, medical director of primary care at Altru Health System in Grand Forks, said having that many exposure sites with an extremely contagious disease like measles is “tremendously concerning.” “Nine out of 10 potential contacts can come down with the illness,” Nielsen said. “It’s that contagious. It puts a lot of people at risk.”

State health officials declared a measles outbreak Thursday following five confirmed cases in Oregon.

Dr. Howard Chiou, medical director for communicable diseases and immunizations for the Oregon Health Authority’s Public Health Division, warned during a virtual press conference Thursday morning that those cases likely represent a fraction of the actual numbers in the state. That’s because not everyone who catches measles will seek medical attention, Chiou said.

“What I really want families to hear is that measles is here in Oregon,” Chiou said. “Cases are rising across the United States. And people should really reconsider their vaccine decisions and talk to their health care providers to make sure that they and their families are getting the protection that they need.”

A new data dashboard the Oregon Health Authority published Thursday shows how the measles virus has spread through Oregon counties, based on wastewater surveillance. Health officials take samples from community sewage to check for the measles virus, as they do for other diseases.

Seems like lots of people FAFO'd. Unfortunately, some minors, who had a moronic caregiver make the decision for them. raccoon 13 hrs ago #2

This regime wants to thin us out and take all land and assets. We are worthless unless we are rich and sycophantic.
I expect survivors will be thrown into rings for entertainment purposes soon like in the Roman Empire.
