The Trump administration is considering executive action that could require banks to report more information on the citizenship of their customers, the latest move by the White House to crack down on illegal immigration, the Washington Post reports.
The steps under consideration include a potential executive order requiring banks to collect information from all customers both new and existing and could require new forms of documentation, such as a passport, to verify citizenship.

(57,701 posts)Thats how they pay taxes. I never once had to show a SS card, which is accepted as proof of citizenship nowhere.
Your own post notes that non-citizens have SS like numbers; you undermine your own claim.

(6,320 posts)If you apply for an account and you are a non-citizen, you have to provide your documents. Most banks have limitations on loans.

(57,701 posts)I personally know undocumented immigrants with bank accounts.
Foreign nationals open US bank accounts too.
You are simply wrong on the issue, and you keep changing the goal posts.
I never showed any citizenship documentation when I took out a loan. Obviously, I provided my SS number for a credit check, but a SS number doesn't prove citizenship. Two documents prove citizenship: a passport and a birth certificate. Unless you were asked for those, you didn't prove citizenship.
