New taxation scheme so every one is happy.

Since taxation is a big deal in many "conservative" circles I suggest the following tax system.

You can choose to pay taxes or not to pay them and I mean 0% taxes. A national ID would show your tax status

For tax payers you get:

1) Free access to public libraries, education, parks , musuems etc..
2) A public option for healthcare.
3) Tax credits if eligible.
4) Free access to highways.

.... you get the idea!

For non tax payers:
1) You keep all your money.
2) You have to pay for anything "public" since you believe in free non regulated capitalism.
3) Will not be forced to pay Social Security or any other contribution.
4) Pay for your own healthcare.
5) You should pay for highways.

.... you get the idea!

Law enforcement should be involved for instance before someone enters a library he would show his ID with his chosen taxation scheme. If he pays taxes he can access it for free otherwise it's free market you pay for the library.

I think it's a just system where every one would be free to exercise his believes and in the same time not be a parisite on others.
I know it sounds extreme and somewhat some wishful thinking but I guess that's the only way people would understand what taxes are for.

Most people with reasonably high incomes would take you up on this offer immediately. Even at my income I would seriously consider it. Heck the Republicans are pushing for just such a situation. They want to close all these public institutions, and go with private alternatives to 1. If they meet some healthy/rich threshold, they would be more than willing to opt out of any healthcare system including Medicare (2). What are tax credits anyway if you can opt out of taxes (unless you are talking about the negative income tax Earned Income Tax Credit that ony benefits low earners at (3). Rich folks would be more than willing to pay for usage of highways if they are not taxed (4).

Rich folks are already willing to pay for their own security (gated communities) and personal guards. Anybody making over $50K unless they are concerned about others should opt out of the Social Security system.
