Apparently, scheduling a surgery takes longer than you might expect. But there are various things that need to happen before scheduling. For instance, the drug I'm on (Tagrisso) needs to be on board for 90 days. I just passed that date a few days ago. Also, an appropriate hospital needs to be on the list (it is.) and the doctor doing the surgery needs to have privileges there, which she does.
I don't yet have a time when the surgery will start. But the day is definitely fixed:
MONDAY, MARCH 16TH, 2026.
There are other small procedures to be done, but this is the important one.
Now, I need to ready myself, my psyche and my body, for this unprecedented surgery. I've never had a surgery like this before and it looks a little scary. All my joint replacements got to be routine. This is not.
As I did before, I will give each response a rec when I've read it.
My love and thanks to all of you!

(1,784 posts)I did acute care transcription for 15 years. The fact you have NO lymph node involvement is the biggest thing in your favour. The fact that they're fiddle-farting around to get you to surgery just bolsters your odds. If you were "really" in trouble, you would have been under the knife urgently.
I despise how insurance makes everything such an ordeal (I'm a pharmacy tech now) but I get a good vibe here. I think you've got this, except for the anxiety of waiting for it to be over. 👍

Btw, your surgery is 3 days after my wife is having her hip replaced. The surgeon described the ball is like a square peg in a round hole.
