https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/meta-glasses-facial-recognition-domestic-abuse-b2923551.htmlWomen and girls could be put at risk of harassment, stalking, and abuse if Meta presses ahead with plans to add AI facial recognition features to its smart glasses, leading charities have warned.
Experts said the technology, which would allow wearers to identify people and find out information about them using the platforms AI tool, could pose a direct and serious risk to survivors by placing them in harm's way and enabling abusers to locate and track them.
They added that the feature also has the potential to threaten the safety of all women and girls in public by giving wearers the ability to access information about them without their consent
It comes after a New York Times report revealed Meta, which owns Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram, is considering plans to add facial recognition technology to its Meta glasses as soon as this year. But sources told the New York Times the feature would not give people the ability to look up anyone and everyone they encountered.

Is that if you're out in public, you have no expectation of privacy. I forget what the exact case was, but it was in regards to security cameras, CCTV and such. Now we have cameras everywhere, some with facial recognition, license plate readers, and now the return of the not creepy at all glassholes. The entire concept of privacy is dead, if you want privacy you can't legally step outside your glassholes. The sad thing is that many, if not most people just accept this as the price we pay. Some even embrace it, putting cameras inside and outside their homes. Absolutely insane.
