His neighbors fixed the door ICE busted when they forced their way in

(20,366 posts)everything will work out for him. Trump's Gestapo just wants to make their jackbooted point.
Do what you can, don't worry. Worry is counterproductive for everyone involved.
Your DU family is always in your, and your family's, corner. Be strong.

(7,885 posts)It takes so much courage to engage in journalism that documents resistance. It is not a crime, but a moral calling. He is a hero for doing so. Now, let's get him home ASAP.

(10,707 posts)I know you're scared. It's very scary! Your brother is a hero in the true sense of the word.
While there on business, we visited Renee Good and Alex Pretti's memorial sites. There were videographer's at both sites, it seemed like they were there at all times, probably doing shifts. The experience of being there was deeply moving and very emotional for me and other family members in our car. We were all crying. Very shocking after seeing it on TV many times.
As we left the area, there was a very large protest marching toward us. There were people dressed in black with neon yellow vests, red hats, some with helmets. I wigged because at first I thought they were ICE and I was scared. They were actually trained observers with whistles, and they were fearlessly and aggressively blocking traffic, surrounding and protecting the marching protesters. We all yelled thank yous out of the windows as much as we could, and they directed us and other cars where to turn off so the marchers could continue forward down to the site of Alex Pretti's murder (we think).
I have been to and witnessed more protests than I can remember (since the 60's and Vietnam). This hit me and the rest of us differently than any other. This was all aged people protesting and expressing outrage at the murders of innocent neighbors. Everyday people defending their drop dead beautiful city from lawless, vicious thugs.
There were "Fuck ICE" and "ICE OUT" signs everywhere in town. On lawns, under stop signs, on businesses.
I'm in awe of your brother and the people of Minneapolis.

(130,066 posts)We are all watching the prosecution of the church protestors and journalists. There are ongoing protests at the federal court building in St. Paul. It's outrageous!

(25,557 posts)Needed a breather. But I kept up with news events through NPR. Re-read some books, both fiction and non fiction, about fascism. The parallels to the US today were scary.
As soon as I heard the first news about Minneapolis, I thought about you since you are the only person I know of in Minnesota. I am so in awe of the people there and their courage and values. Minneapolis is an example for the rest of us to follow.
A big thank you to Minnesotans for being a light in darkness.
