The New Haven Green is one of the most famous places in the country of public spaces. Photo taken by a Yale Ph.D student of genetics.

(48,217 posts)I spent many years as a graduate student at Yale, so that scene is very familiar to me. Some of the more difficult--and yet most enriching and interesting years of my life.

(63,912 posts)reflects their British founding. It's one of those things about most New England towns. It's actually very nice since so much public art can take place on Greens, And I find it is a soothing place to rest, read and relax...IOW, lovely...

(8,554 posts)It had snowed here every day and skies were gray for all of that December, then just before the new year came, the sun came out to set that day. It lasted for a few short minutes and I ran out and managed to get only two pics before the glow was gone. There's a Cascade's "foothill" and a major volcano behind those clouds, ha!

(8,554 posts)tho, I have considered submitting some of my bird and critter pics sometimes. We had a whole herd of Elk in that same pasture (behind the little house) practically daily this past summer and I must have taken hundreds of shots of them...they were drinking from my birdbath and almost destroyed our gardens, but it was worth it to have them visiting the property.

(8,554 posts)No rivers running thru it, but there is a creek coming down just at the end of the woods. A goodly part of this ten acres is designated wetlands, so it's a wonderland for someone like me who dearly loves waterfowl.

(8,554 posts)when they show New Year's around the world at the top of the hour all day, each year. I missed seeing any of that since it's been nothing but football all day here, today, as I haven't been feeling well and didn't feel much up to fighting over the channel switching. Now he's grumpy cause he had to chalk three Losses up on his silly chart, heh.
We've just popped open our bottle of sparkling apple-cranberry cider, so cheers and a Happy New Year to you!

I'm under the weather, too... no champagne, but I did open the Trader Joe's Spiced Cider. Pairs well with cherry Nyquil.
