Dear Congress, Happy New Year. As you celebrate with caviar and champagne,

Please give thought to the great number of your constituents who will, if they are lucky, have leftovers for dinner. We have been hopeful that you would recognize the plight of the average American. I see that is not the case. I hope you all enjoy your New Years dinner, knowing that millions of Americans have no option but to eat whatever is available...sometimes nothing. I, as a very senior American, am disgusted with almost all of you.

As the new year arrives, I can only hope that some of you will realize that you don't know the whole story. You don't know what many American citizens are going through now. Do you even care?
Cliff or no cliff, please give your thanks for your position in society. Most of us will not. We are too busy trying to find a way to pay our bills and feed ourselves. Things like rent, house taxes, food, utilities, insurance, whatever, are of no concern to you.

As a senior citizen, I am so disillusioned it is awful. Is this the same country?
Now you want to take away my SS benefits, into which I have paid for 55 years? Cut Medicare. OK, cut it all and you will see the housing market dive. We cannot afford to keep our houses. Glut on the housing market, bad news.
Most of us have relied on you folks to steer us in the right direction.
You have sent us over a cliff, fiscal or not. We are in deep trouble.
Enjoy your caviar and hopefully you will give the average American a thought as you enjoy your New Year celebration..
