The surgery was Wednesday. Thursday, with help from a physical therapist and an occupational therapist, I was able to sit straight up at the edge of the bead and place both feet on the floor. Progress! Friday, I moved my bowels and, with help from the therapists, I was able to stand, pivot, and sit in a mobile recliner. Yesterday I was transported to a rehab facility where I will learn to walk again. It is a comfortable place. I have a private room, the food is home cooked, and today for the first time, I am out of bed and dressed in something other than a hospital johnny. I'll be watching my beloved Celtics take on the evil '76ers tonight. Foxtrot Delta Tango!

(53,712 posts)my husband made a trip out to get sand just this morning. So far, I've managed to stay upright, but it's always a concern since I have had both hips replaced. Spring can't come soon enough. Take care.

(23,438 posts)in Springfield where I've spent way too much time recently. Fortunately only one over-night but a couple of other ED visits where they wanted me to stay and I said "no".
I do a fair amount of volunteer driving for folks in the Northampton area including trips to Springfield. Let me know if you ever need a ride.

Thank you for the kind offer.

(884 posts)Had to laugh at your bm update. But anyone who has had surgery with anesthesia knows a bm is a big deal. They don't let you leave without one lol.

(5,775 posts)But I'm rooting against your team today. I grew up watching the Sixers in the 70s & 80s. I will also root for a good game without injuries where its won by skill.

(3,216 posts)High speed bike accident and had a big plate. He stuck to his physical therapy and stayed as active as possible, and was back to his usual activities in well under a year, including competition- it's a BIG bone to break, but his advice is take it a day at a time, never give up, and my advice is not to let setbacks throw you- they're normal.
I've broken 8 or 10 bones but used to mountain bike race.

(5,455 posts)And I had to read it twice - you are at a rehab facility that is pleasant and has good food? I have never heard of such a thing.

I am 3 weeks out of full hip replacement from a fractured hip from fall.
It's a long recovery but going fine. Hope yours goes well too.
