. The fact that we are operating Reapers in Iranian airspace means we are well on our way to achieving it. And doctrinally, the purpose of stealth is to enter contested airspace and degrade air defenses to achieve said air dominance, which is what is happening.

Not sure if reaper drones would count towards air superiority since bombers do not. The reaper does have air to air sidewinder missiles or two, but appears these are reserved for defensive countermeasures rather than hunting for bear as a fighter plane or interceptor would.
Reapers appear to operate primarily at high altitudes waiting for a target to appear so as to bomb it. If an unknown fighter or drone came near the reaper it might unleash its sidewinder in self defense, but this tactic would not establish air superiority.
Prior to air to air missiles, only fighters and interceptors counted towards establishing air superiority, within reason. A fighter bomber does.
I do not know how surface to air missiles or patriots come into play these days, I suppose contribute in a sense; during a battle tho, dunno.
A scout plane with a pilot armed with a rifle could have air superiority if he were the only aircraft within a hundred miles of the battle, but this of course is not a valid argument.
The way I remember it from last century, pertaining to battles, air superiority is over 5 to 4 ratio of fighter and interceptors of roughly equal quality. Air supremacy is over 5 to 1. Air dominance is over ten to one. Air inferiority is less than 3 to 4. Air parity is self explanatory.
With superior aircraft which generally exists today between first world and second world countries such as US and Iran, air superiority takes on a different interpretation as we can well imagine.

Mobile SCUD launchers launching IRBM's are more for Patriot missiles and other interceptors rather then fighter planes.

We’re avoiding the news but I just read a recap of counter attacks. Don’t we have at least one carrier group there?

Although one of them, The Gerald Ford, has malfunctioning toilets (all 600 of them).

It costs $100’s of thousands each time they do it, and it only gets about a third of the toilets working at a time, for a short time.

The Ford was supposed to be in for repairs lasting up to a year.

Hi Aviation Pro,
I like your posts or one or two of them anyway. And so I gift you one of my meandering diatribes…I rarely talk to people irl. But I can assure you that whatever this is, it is not kayfabe (a loathesome concept) or mental illness.

I am not American or whatever an influencer is and it would be wildly inappropriate for me to comment on US electoral politics, especially when I am cursed with a “systems worldview” or some such thing coupled with a child’s grasp of anything outside my own field and generic human understanding of reality.

But I am not a fool, just because I am a failed scientist and not a “gamer” or “player” and omg I am so impractical I think the earth matters and factory farming/mass extinction of non-human life sucks. 🙄

The NIH postdoc was never gig work. It is a respectable path to a real job. Most pis who succeed are legitimately good at least in their fields. My main mentor and other 2 mentors were also decent human beings, with my main mentor being the best mentor I have ever come across. I consider him family, academic and human, even though he is white and male and I am Indian and female and we are not biologically related. He is not like a dad to me precisely. Maybe an academic father. He really was peerless.

Not one instinct I have is anything that isn’t that of the publicly funded scientist who tries to be honest in a niche area.
Thank you..for something..

My dad is a military vet (Indian military). So I respect the armed forces for all that I am well to the left. I do not think “defund the police” and “open borders” are left anyway. They are terrible ideas. “Work with the police and immigration to improve them seriously”. It is the 70,000 immigrants languishing in real hells I feel bad for as I see this ugly inside and out billionaire with four kids, a private beach and other bullshit called Vinod Khosla. I mean I wish him well to the extent that I am a non-violent person (profanity aside). But he is the problem wit immigration and now he is here flatulently saying that Cisco employees with 20 years of experience should…He is not a decent human being.

There is not a delivery boy or homeless person who comes to my home I treat with disrespect. But I would order this man, Vinod Khosla or Ambani or Adani off the premises in clear terms. Reliance industries in particular treats its employees like shit and all so that Ambani can have an obscene wedding that costs 17000 times the average Indian’s income. As I know from personal experiences, these are health and security risks.

And as private equity (mostly American companies) sweeps through my country destroying education and healthcare and straining doctors and parents, I don’t know what to say. I am whining to you because you seem like a nice person (and I have a partiality for retired military vets as my dad is a military vet).
I don’t know if you have a daughter or not, but I don’t conceal much from my dad..he is a really supportive dad. But he is cool with the Modafinil and would be cool with the marijuana if it was represented properly to him. But if a malicious person went to him, he would still believe me. But my mental health is just okay under these constraints finally and I would like to proceed in some semi-elegant way.
I am the type of person who would file complaints if anyone male, female, any race/class or whatever bothered me. Most people leave me alone irl. I am a nice person, but I am not a fool.

And to be bullied because you see a lot of stuff as solipsistic, self-absorbed, narcissistic, shallow, superficial, grandiose is grating on me.

Prof Yan Lecun is the one ai scientist I trust completely (he is white and male and European) and I am Indian, female, middleclass and trained as a scientist in a niche area. I was never a very good scientist some instincts aside and I have a lot of humility in my field. The pinnacle of my research career was not breaking a shared used instrument. Actually I now think Prof John Hennessy is also a decent human being. He wrote an oped about dreamers in Politico which indicates that he cares about stuff.
I can never tell with people like that though if they have ever met ..you know..people. Prof Lecun I have a hunch has met people. He was a huge loss to that lousy Zuckerberg company. Zuckerberg has awful instincts “normalize data leaks”, probably by now annoying decent left wing non-profits like Current Affairs which Nathan Robinson runs. Even Yasha Levine, Evgenia Kovda and Chris Ketcham have to rely on Substack as the NYT etc are pretty corrupt.
I am not a Chomsky fan. I am a Paul Ehrlich supporter. He was unfairly smeared by people who favor races to the bottom.

I really liked all my colleagues in the US and my doctors locally and most normal decent humans and feel very indignant about various things. I am not ever migrating anywhere because …I am a free woman! I am DIYing my mental health because the local services aren’t very useful. My best shrink was my shrink in the US who prescribed Adderall. My last shrink and therapist in the US were also decent. But I like medications that work for me and I am not open to things that distract me from my field. This is working for me.

But I am not grifting influencer and I have no intention of going to prison for even one day nor ever being mistaken for anything but a scientist in a niche area, I refuse to abandon. I was married to an American who is still one of my two best friends. We split up because most of our marriage was like GD 🙄. We agreed on everything but we were politically incompatible because he is white and male and I am Indian and female and often I don’t consider some of the symbolic issues and celebrities etc relevant to anything. Now it is a joke between us but back in the day we would have argued into the night about how Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift should never be the face of anything. I am very left, but I dislike celebrities because they annoy me whether it is Hulk Hogan or any to the left.

Dr.Fauci and Lina Khan are the sole public figures in America I was ever truly enthusiastic about. They are so cool.

I may travel to Europe for work some day in my field if I can because travel broadens the mind. And while this was interesting in ways I did not enjoy, it is interesting to see new places.

I am telling you this because I don’t want or need therapy. You care about things that are not narrowly connected to your life don’t you AviationPro?
So do I..
This is not tied to electoral politics and it is by a very left leaning writer and I happen to agree with it.
Immigration to the US is broken.

It’s tempting here to trot out the usual suspects: the Vatican and its opposition to contraception, relevant to the world’s 1.3 billion Catholics; the billions of Muslims and Hindus whose religions see women as vessels for baby-making and subordinate always to men; the tens of millions of Christian and Jewish fundamentalists who similarly view women as mere instruments of reproduction and home-making; the generally male-dominated societies in many developing countries, where cultural norms favor patriarchy; and so on. But let’s not discount the demands of profit-seeking capital to see a perpetual rise of population. More people means more consumers and also more available workers to keep wages low and put labor in cannibalizing competition with itself in the global race to the bottom. For humans to not be a cancer may be bad for big business.”

Actually I think this post is okay. But I have to go scrub the rest of my journal to avoid accusations of libel. I think this is okay for the web. I am not a Chomsky fan..too narrow and self-absorbed and solipsistic a worldview.
I am not surprised that he is in the Epstein files.

Solidarity with women is clearly not Prof Chomsky’s worldview. Otoh I think Yasha Levine is a real humanist leftist I would trust in these sleazy waters. I am very fond of Yasha and have even invited him home. He has a lot of compassion. It is not machinic “morality” like Chomsky, who noticed that the planet exists as anything but a backdrop for human bs about 3 days ago (metaphor).

I don’t think images, emojis etc can confuse humans about what is on the inside if you actual bother with more than slogans.
