The reality, though, is that nothing is certain about beheading an 86 year old power player, until we see who comes next.

(679 posts)He could have gotten widespread support for a military action against Iran because almost all countries really hate that regime. Instead, he went alone, and now we are on the hook for a very complicated, bloody mess that could go horribly wrong in a hundred ways.
And if he pulls the same stunt he did in Venezuela, leaving the regime in place but with Trump personally taking the nations oil, the world will really hate us.

(13,895 posts)It's a bit tinfoil hat, but suppose Putin encouraged Iran to encourage Hamas to do the Oct. 7th atrocities. Putin might have wanted to distract from Ukraine and get Trump elected. He might have used Iran as a cat's paw. Now he's probably lost his drone supply at a minimum.
