In one interview with The Daily Mail, Trump said the service members, who have not yet been identified, were "great" people with "outstanding records."
"They're great people," Trump told The Daily Mail. "And, you know, we expect that to happen, unfortunately. Could happen continuous (sic) it could happen again."
Trump said in his Saturday morning address announcing the strikes that acknowledged that U.S. lives could be lost in the "war" with Iran. Congress has not officially approved a declaration of war against the country, even though Trump has described the attack in such terms.
"The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties," Trump said on Saturday. "That often happens in war. But we're doing this not for now. We're doing this for the future."

(12,802 posts)or worried about a family member in harms way to send young people to die.
This man never sat waiting for a letter on Friday like my Mom did. Or worse, seeing a black car coming down the road towards our house.
My brother served two tours in Vietnam and two others in war zones. This man is a coward. I pray for the Mother's and Dads, Husband's and Wives waiting in pain for word, any word.

(8,204 posts)Not that Chief BONESPURS would know anything about courage or sacrifice, as he stands there bragging about his offensive, the likes of which (checks notes) 'the world has never seen."
But hey, he 'thanks them for their service'.
"A wretched and horrible man responsible for the deaths of... perhaps millions... against civilization."
(SEE: USAID, MASS DEPORTATIONS, COVID RESPONSE, the BIG BILL, etc.)
same cloth, imo.
