The tragic part of all of this - it didn't have to be this way

If the media reported what was best for the country, instead of bowing to pressure - or towing the line of the media owners

if our politicians actually served their constituents, instead of doing very little aside from raising money and campaigning

if so much of our public were not poisoned by right wing media for many decades and retained the ability to actually think

if so many of the "religious" actually understood what it is all about (for those to whom it is important).

if the rightful victor in the election years ago - Hillary - was actually president instead of the monster placed in the position with help from Russia

there are so many ifs....dozens - hundreds - of ifs. I've only scratched the surface.

But we are indeed being fucked over by most of the media and most of the politicians - it is as if they are living above and beyond this - that it is a video game, or reality show, and that if the shit maximally hit the fan they would come out unscathed.

At 70, I can be thankful for those 70 years - if a nuke were to go off over my head I'd have no regrets (and if it did come to that, let it be so - my wife and I have no interest in living in a dystopian world).

But this isn't fair for our children, and their children, and all of those to come. That's what makes me saddest of all.
