Lawmakers: Israeli plan to attack Iran dictated Trump's decision on strikes

Senior lawmakers in both parties said Monday that the Trump administration’s decision to launch bombing and missile strikes across Iran this weekend was largely dictated by Israel’s plan to attack Iran with or without U.S. support.

Senior administration officials told Republican and Democratic lawmakers at a classified briefing on Capitol Hill that the Israeli plan to strike Iran pushed the United States to take preemptive action to protect U.S. troops stationed at bases throughout the Middle East, whom the Pentagon believed would have been targeted by retaliatory strikes.

Because now no US troops are being targeted in retaliation.

Iran is close. The military starts each day with a hardy death to America, death to Israel chant. They have made it clear they are developing nuclear weapons.

It’s living next to someone whose religious beliefs is to kill you.

Do you wait for them to get fully armed before you strike? We know from North Korea and Russia that it’s too late once they have nukes.

The bigger question is whether we should be backing Israel or let them go alone. A surprise attack on American basis would probably cost us thousands of lives.

Since 1989...

The real reasons here involve China, Venezuela, oil (of course) and a President who has taken multiple billions for him and his family from Gulf Arab states.
