About Clinton's testimony last week before Congress . . . .
If ANYONE should have smelled a rat with Epstein, it had to be Clinton.
After the morass and turmoil that Monica Lewinsky and the Impeachment brought, I'd have to give some credit to Clinton for having his radar up for future trouble from anyone.
No matter what siren song Epstein offered Clinton (and I have no doubt that he did), Clinton didn't take the bait. If anything, Clinton was playing Epstein for money for his foundation without reciprocity.
And Epstein tried and tried to ensnare Clinton with minimal success. The one that got away.
And I'm also certain that Bill Clinton told his wife everything, what he saw, what he suspected, and they made a united front.
Clinton may have been careless decades ago, but not now.

(25,621 posts)was up to with children because Clinton dealt with publicity over an affair with an adult woman who sought him out?
I don't see the connection.

(54,724 posts)He understood there would be people who would compromise him via blackmail.
Clinton didn't necessarily and wholly understand Epstein's enterprises.
The price wasn't worth it.

(59,227 posts)his calling for release of all the Epstein files speaks to the probability that he had nothing to do with abusing the children. Also, there was one girl in a documentary - and I'm sorry that I can't name the girl or the documentary but I remember this clearly - who said nothing untoward happened when Clinton was around.
HOWEVER, if he was in such close and frequent proximity, I can't understand how such a brilliant man didn't know what was happening. And if he did know what was happening when he wasn't around, and didn't speak up about it, and continued to have a relationship with Epstein and the other men in his circle, that would make him scum in my book.
Monica Lewinsky was an adult and a willing partner. I have no judgment about that. And I don't think he abused any girls. But I don't know how to think about him these days.

(17,430 posts)I don't know what to think about him these days either. Because if he's guilty of anything, he should fry.
So, I'm going back to my usual of "innocent until proven guilty" and I'm including therein my gut instinct that Clinton would not condone rape or molestation. I just cannot see it and I certainly cannot see Hillary having ANY knowledge of anything (even from a conversation with Bill, etc.) that children were being harmed. She is the one who worked tirelessly to get the CHIP act implemented and she's been a vocal and active feminist her entire life.
If Bill knew anything and didn't report it, I agree that makes him scum. But I still just can't see it.
I guess time will tell. I'm not sure we will ever know, but I'll wait and see.
