Noem won't rule out ICE agents at polls

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem told lawmakers Tuesday that her agency currently had “no plans” to station immigration officers at voting locations this November but refused to explicitly rule out the possibility that they could deploy to the polls.

In recent months, President Donald Trump’s close allies have called on him to send U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to the polls during this year’s midterms, when they allege — falsely — that Democrats will use undocumented immigrants to steal the election.

While he has not explicitly backed the tactic, Trump himself has vowed to take extreme measures to seize control of elections, including attempting to mandate restrictive voting requirements through an executive order.

Noem’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday went against recent messaging from the Trump administration, including from officials who work directly under her.

1. I am being flippant and understand this is an intimidation tactic, but good!

The only ones I have heard of doing election fraud are the pubes. Maybe the ones with no morals will not show up.

It seems quite a few Hispanics voted for him last time, too, so maybe less Pune voters there.

In actuality, I do not want anyone intimidated. This feels like we are in a different country.

2. Executive orders are not binding to the General populace, only Federal workers.

Besides, any EO regarding voting is a State matter and most likely be tied up in court litigation.

to stop everyone from voting and they will only be in "Blue" areas.

Plus, it will be fun for the collection of misanthropes and sociopaths they have hired to harass and arrest "teh libs".

Will it actually be ordered? Who the fuck knows these days?

Literally anything is possible.

Do I sound negative? You bet! How does one sound positive these days? I can't muster any positivity right now.

5. Yeah, there is a difference between 'negativity' and 'reality'.

Your statements fall under the 'reality' side of things, as they have already done worse as well as things that are similar in design.

So, the better question is, will the states put up with it?

(You don't want to hear my answer to that one.)

6. Red states will embrace it, ensure that no one in a blue city is able to vote

Blue states will try to resist it, but ICE outnumbers police, so unless they pull out the national guard to stand at polling places....
