https://yougov.com/en-us/articles/54225-support-for-abolishing-ice-reaches-50-percent-february-27-march-2-2026-economist-yougov-pollSupport for abolishing ICE has hit a new high in this week's Economist / YouGov poll. Half (50%) of Americans now somewhat or strongly support abolishing ICE. Only 39% oppose abolishing the agency.
This marks the first time support has reached 50% in YouGov polling. Support for abolishing ICE has been steadily growing since January. At the same time, opposition to abolishing ICE has fallen since the start of the year, and now sits at an all-time low.
A few Economist/YouGov Polls before this year asked about abolishing ICE and each time more Americans opposed the idea than supported it.
While majorities of Democrats have supported abolishing ICE in many YouGov polls this year, this marks the first time that at least half of Independents support abolishing ICE (52%). Most Republicans (68%) continue to oppose abolishing ICE, although about one-quarter (23%) now support it, which also marks a high point in support among Republicans.

(3,846 posts)1. A suggestion to that 39%...
... that's VERY much like saying that you're against abolishing the Taliban.
You guys might want to back that one up a parsec or two.

(3,351 posts)2. Good, let's abolish it.
Enforcement can live in the Justice Department, and asylum applications and citizenship handled by the State Department.
Let's get rid of the rest of DHS, too. Put the Coast Guard back in Defense. Get rid of DNI directly and make the CIA central again.

(17,015 posts)3. What are the 50% proposing it be replaced with?
Operations just transferred to other departments, or eliminated completely and replaced with nothing?

A party even sticking up for Americans and pushing for it to be abolished. Imagine if the Dems were hitting the news and most importantly the streets, advocating for that?
