I have never been in combat or served in the military, but I could do a better job than our Secretary of War.
I am not a lawyer and have never studied law, but I could do the Attorney General's job better than she does.
I am not a cop and have never investigated a crime, but I could be a better FBI Director than the one we have now.
I have never been involved in a major natural disaster, but I believe I could run FEMA better than the Homeland Security Director.
I am not a Constitutional scholar and have never studied law, but I think I could do a better job of interpreting our Constitution than many of the sitting Supreme Court Justices.
I'm just a regular old American man, never been to college, never made much of a mark on this world. I am at the age that delusions creep into our minds. But I have convinced myself that I am more capable of doing their jobs than many of the most powerful people in our government.
All this brings me back to one nagging question
Am I the one who is fucked up, or are they?
Now I think I could handle Elon Musk's money more responsibly than he does. Is there no end to my delusions of grandeur?

(130,147 posts)if we have the common sense and humility to know that we aren't supposed to run the world, that the position of president isn't supposed to be an ego trip or a grift, and that we need to choose the most competent people as an essential part of governing.

they require a consistent philosophical and moral perspective that is reflected in your underlings doing the actual work.

Yes, you would do a much better job & any mistakes would not be intentionally designed to destroy democracy.
