Trump tells Reuters he did not sign off on border security ad campaign

WASHINGTON, March 5 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump ​on Thursday told Reuters that he did not ‌sign off on a border security advertising campaign featuring U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

"I ​never knew anything about it," ​Trump told Reuters in a phone ⁠interview.

Noem - a top official overseeing ​Trump's aggressive immigration crackdown - has faced scrutiny ​from lawmakers about the campaign, on which the government spent $220 million.

Noem was questioned by ​both Democrats and Republicans before a ​Senate panel on Wednesday about the contract and process ‌to ⁠select the companies.

He would have insisted on being the star of the movie. It’s funny because I’ve never seen a cabinet secretary, taking a spanking like that in front of everybody in a committee hearing. And the way she just kept running her mouth, makes me wonder if her mom ever taught her a good manners.

Miller? Most likely Putin. Anyone who recognizes how vulnerable he is in his demented state. He has figuratively given "power of attorney" to a corrupt bunch of people.

This reminds me of a family drama where the father gave his oldest son power of attorney, and - you guessed it - that son (coincidentally a GOP player) cheated his siblings every which way he could.

Wasn't the $200 million funneled to friends of hers and an organization which didn't exist a week before they were hired? When asked about this at the congressional hearing she was literally stuck for an answer.

Dems should work with Republicans like:

"You can be on the good side of this or the bad side of this. Noem and Lewandowski clearly committed fraud. Trump has fired her. There is no reason for you to protect her. 18 U.S.C. § 3282 has at least 5 years statute of limitations, 7 years if the fraud is over a million dollars. That means Dems can run hard on this issue in 2028 and tag you guys are part of the fraud network. Or you can join us now and get her prosecuted. That way, we both look good, and you take away a 2028 campaign issue. Which way do you want to play it? We want both of them in prison, and you should, too."
