Within 24 hours of James Talarico winning the Democratic Senate Primary in Texas, a great many "concerns" have sprung up here on DU. So, with a little bit of help from AI, I figured I would address some of these "concerns."
(1) How come Talarico doesn't have a southern accent?
https://democraticunderground.com/100221072976
From AI...
"Roughly one-third (about 33%) of native Texans surveyed in recent studies use the distinct, traditional Texas accent, a significant decline from nearly 80% in the 1980s. The accent is becoming less common due to urbanization and the influence of media, but still persists, particularly in rural areas and among older generations."
(2) What do you all think of his Talarico's not at all charismatic speaking style?
https://democraticunderground.com/100221072972
From AI...
"A charismatic speaker connects deeply with an audience through confidence, passion, and authenticity, transforming speeches into magnetic, memorable, and inspiring experiences. They utilize strong eye contact, purposeful body language, and vocal variety to engage listeners, often appearing effortless while delivering a structured, emotionally resonant message."
James Talarico is all this and then some. His charisma was good enough to attract 1.2+ million Texas Senate Primary votes - more than any other candidate in either party.
(3) I want to believe in James Talarico, but I'm so, so cynical.
https://democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=21071576
From AI...
"A cynical person believes people are generally selfish, dishonest, and motivated only by self-interest, leading them to distrust others' good intentions and expect negative outcomes, often showing a sneering disbelief in altruism or sincerity, such as thinking a politician's kind act is just for votes."
It's hard enough dealing with Republicans. No need to be cynical about Democrats.
(4) What are the theories as to why Talarico beat Crockett?
https://democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=21071053
NOT FROM AI...
While Jasmine Crockett is awesome, based on the Texas Democratic primary results, James Talarico is approximately 6.2% more awesome. They're both awesome though. Everyone's awesome. The whole team wins. No need for Monday morning quarterbacking where nobody is anything but a winner.
Hopefully this helps alleviate some of the "concerns" about James Talarico so that we can all now move on to the pressing business of spanking the crap out of the GOP in Texas and getting one step closer to taking back control of the United States Senate.

(2,001 posts)posts we're going to see here on DU on the topic of how much someone just can't get 100% behind the democratic candidate that won the primary before we remember that.... OH WAIT! They won the primary! And we all need to dry our tears and get behind them whole heartedly right now because it's going to be an uphill battle against Cornyn/Paxton, no matter what anyone tells you.
Whether they are your favorite or not, they are now the democratic candidate. Please remember that before starting negative threads that could negatively impact things for Texas in November. Surely we ALL want another democratic senator, right?

(2,001 posts)Some people are acting like they'd prefer to "address their concerns" to Ken Paxton or John Cornyn for another 6 years. I don't get it. We had two great choices! Only one could advance. Let's move forward and support our great candidate and also support Jasmine in whatever she does next.

(3,144 posts)Talarico is going to send Paxton flying. Texas Democrats have a very special opportunity there for the taking.
