My Dad owned 2 convenience stores at that time and one had gas pumps. The lines were crazy long.
It was a complete nightmare.

But, I was a teenager and, more than likely, wasn’t paying that much attention!

Only a few morons would even try to buy gas at scale (how would you do it? you can't transport and store a year's supply of volatile liquid in your house like you can plastic-wrapped bundles of paper) and also gas pump prices are extremely responsive, they have already shot up which will put people off of bulk buying -- it is already too late.

We had just moved from West Germany where we walked everywhere (Weisbaden).

Like it was a big deal to drive to Abbott's (ice cream place back home) on a Sunday night.

No way McTacoTits lied.

At any rate, doubtful we'll see those types of gas station lines as a result.

thinking of one from 15ish years back in Atlanta following a prolonged outage with a gas line (or hurricane) - cant quite remember the reason but there were some local stations that ran out of fuel for a week or so.

Gas had gone to 49 cents a gallon. I was just a kid. Fast forward 50 years and I think we are going to 4.99 a gallon just like the W years.

The Republicans allowed this to happen and they will pay dearly in November.

And, I was born in '56.
Never waited in line for gas; never even saw a gas line in person. Just newspaper photos.
Not saying it didn't happen, but it was clearly not a universal phenomenon.
