General Discussion

A short time ago, CBS Sunday Morning did two stories about Iran. The first story discussed how the United States found itself in the current situation. That story featured an Army general who claimed Iran was just trying to play Donald Trump and the United States during the negotiations. The general went on to say that Iran had played numerous American Presidents, but was unable to play this current president.
Did anyone catch the name of that general? I wanted his name because I wanted to do some research on him to see if he was just some pro-Trump general who was presented as an unbiased source. Based on what I had heard, I did not buy anything the general was saying. According to Michelangelo Signorile, Iran had negotiated a deal with the Trump Administration that was actually better than the Obama deal.

(102,057 posts)More than one report from that I've seen claiming that a deal had been allegedly reached and the bombing began shortly after the meeting had ended, or that they were close and the US reps flipped just before the bombing started. The general tone seems that the negotiations were a ruse from the start... probably so.
Bibi wants to do to Iran as he did to Gaza with our military and money and probably troops. This is a holy war to them and so we will have to deal with that too. Iran wasn't a threat even in 2025.
This bullshit, I don't know the answer but time marches on and eventually we'll know where it goes.

By playing American Presidents CBS means the deal that President Obama got with Iran that
kept them from ever getting nuclear weapons which Trump tore up.
