It's that time of the year again for my annual Daylight Saving Time post! I love this time of the season. Yeah, we lose an hour, but to me this signifies the first important step to ending Winter, and that Spring is around the corner!
Love it getting dark later, even if it takes a few days to get used to!

(15,329 posts)But getting to work on time or getting productive work next week is going to be difficult.
Traffic will be a nightmare, and getting the kids to school? urgh.
Why can't it be just a half hour slide? A full hour messes with the sleep schedule.

(25,017 posts)Time is ephemeral. Wherever you are on the Earth the Sun will rise, (don't tell me about the higher latitudes!). What difference does it make what the clock says? Most people wake up sometime around sunrise then go about their day. Changing the clocks twice a year is confusing and messes with peoples' lives and schedules.
I think the whole planet should be on UTC based on Greenwich Mean Time. Once again, so what if in your time zone it would be 2:00 am when you wake up? If that's when the Sun rises, what's the difference?
A perfect example is the International Space Station. It functions on Greenwich Mean Time since international is in its name. The station orbits the Earth every 90 minutes so sunrise has no functional meaning. The astronauts, cosmonauts, etc. go about their business based on that time zone. Why can't the rest of the world?
My idea would simplify so many things but it'll never happen until the aliens arrive or we become a truly spacefaring planet.

(24,743 posts)Realized what I did, later, so I went back and changed 11:20 to 12:20 but then the date said Monday March 8
No fiddling could fix it, so I disconnected the power and yanked the backup batteries and started from scratch.
WHO THE HELL NEEDS THIS?
It is/was a very nice digital clock.

(34,867 posts)The number of daylight hours will be the same regardless of whether the clock changes, or not. It doesn't "save" anything.

(17,481 posts)I don't like it still being daylight at 10:00 p.m. It's ridiculous.

(2,311 posts)We are gaining over six minutes of daylight every day.
In two weeks itll be right back where it started.
But everyone scurries around blaming being late on the changeover for as long as they can.

(2,010 posts)Choose one time or the other and stick with it. It is crazy. Why should anyone have to adjust? If anyone likes going back and forth and adjusting for no good reason twice a year, that is fine for them. I would rather it be the same use round.
