Video apparently shows that a US Tomahawk missile struck the girls' school

As images of the carnage spread globally, the blame game started instantly. Israeli and pro-Monarchist Iranian opposition channels on Telegram began flooding the zone with a story: the school was hit by a failed IRGC missile interception. A fake IRGC “admission” of responsibility circulated on X. Other accounts claimed the footage was from Pakistan.
All of it was debunked. Snopes, The New York Times, Reuters, The Washington Post, and the Iranian fact-checking organization Factnameh all verified that the footage was authentic and geolocated to Minab.
New footage released by the Iranian state news agency Mehr News, geolocated and verified by Bellingcat researchers Trevor Ball and Carlos Gonzales, shows a US Tomahawk cruise missile striking the IRGC facility in Minab on February 28th. In the same footage, smoke is already visible rising from the vicinity of the girls’ school.
The Al Jazeera investigation went further, concluding the school was likely struck deliberately as part of a precision airstrike — not by accident. Their analysis noted that missiles hit both the military base and the school, but bypassed the specialized clinic complex located between them without touching it. That level of targeting precision cannot be explained as a stray missile.
A CBC investigation reached a similar conclusion: the school was bombed as part of a precision strike on the adjacent military complex, and represents either a weapons system failure or a serious CENTCOM intelligence failure. Given that the US was exclusively operating in southern Iran while Israel focused on the north and Tehran, the origin is not in dispute.

As the author says, in war mistakes happen. But lies are deliberate. Trump lied. Again.
